I spent a couple of days trying to come up with a script for Granny C. I can't really foresee ever putting anymore effort into this, so here it is!

Let me set the scene; Wide shot of a grimy looking harlem street. Three hoodrats lean menacingly in an alley telling jokes instead of collecting welfare checks to pay for their baby mamas. Don't worry though! Soon Granny C swoops in to teach them a lesson about responsibility!

This makes a lot more sense if you know that Granny C has a cat on her back that is meowing.. Oh and that when she starts rapping she is actually being propelled across the world by an uncontrollable period blood squirt. She carries the Hoodrats to various places so that she can teach them the lesson of responsibility.

Don't worry about whether it makes sense or not. Just enjoy that I'm alone in my room talking to myself like a schizophrenic for 6 minutes.

Adam P. Adam is probably my biggest inspiration in life. Everyday I wake up and feel real lonely and think about killing myself. I walk to my balcony to throw myself off it, but then I remember that Adam is in the world and that makes me happy. Also it's pretty cold in Toronto, so I don't like going outside too much.

Adam made this really great walk cycle and he said I could post it on my blog! I found it very inspiring, the color choice is great and I loved the rendering - I believe he made each symbol in photoshop and then imported it into flash for animation. I haven't seen a flash design treated in this way before and, since flashin' is my passion, I really wanted to share it. Good on you buddy!

Speaking of buddies: my buddy My, my buddy, made me another sketchbook! (Check out the old one here!)

It's made out of extremely delicate calligraphy paper that can only be bought in Japan. Because it is so fragile I've decided not to take it out cafe sketching but to instead use it as a character design book. 1 character per page.

I'ma try to do at least 1 per day. Much like my Nigg s Riggs is doing on his blog - check it out! (Unlike him I probably won't update once a day, because scanning takes away from my precious procrastinating time, but I'ma draw one a day. I'ma do it! These are from summer 2010.
I miss all the sketchbook time that summer brings. I honestly feel I learn more in those 4 months than I do in 8 months of school. Probably because I feel more at peace, which is a better mind set for learning. Deadlines and crunch time, late nights and bad food are creative killers. Plus there is less time to explore, process and read. I know a lot of students feel they need the structure of school to force them to work at their art but I think it's that mentality that causes artists to plateau in their career. The most important thing you can take away from school is learning to learn, be proactive about your education.

When the semester ends your art shouldn't. If anything the time you spend at your art should increase - finally you can get out all those repressed ideas that have been bubbling up for the last 8 months out of your heart and on to a page.

Me and my nigga My, my nigga had a challenge over our three week christmas break to finish a whole one-hundred-eighty page sketchbook. I only managed to finish 100 pages.

My(follow her) handmade the both of us sketchbooks to commemorate the event. I did the designs on mine with various stickers, white out and sharpie.

Here's the inside of the book with the proposal I pitched Satan when I summoned him from the deepest layer of hell. I wanted him to grant me all the powers of the greatest animator alive, Marc M, in exchange for my soul. After I finished the pitch he said, "One of my secretaries will get back to you" then he gave me a little side smile. I could tell he was kinda impressed with my confidence. A couple days later I got the call and was in!! - goodbye soul, hello drawing abilities! .. . ... Satan... If your reading this, we're still waiting on those drawing abilities. We had a fucking agreement!

The prize was a bag of the world's most elusive and expensive coffee, Kopi Luwak. It is made from cat shit. I got it while visiting my parents in Indonesia where they currently live.

So I thought I would kill two birds with one stone on this chrome texture assignment by painting a chrome Train. The train drawing was required for a flash animation job I'm applying for and the chrome texture is a painting exercise for my digital tools class. Originally I thought it would save me time, not calculating the fact that trains are freaking intricate.

The painting was a big learning curve for me both because I've never painted a chrome texture before and because drawing perspective heavy constructed forms, as opposed to organic forms, is not something I gravitate to.

Since finishing this I've been looking at metal surfaces really intensely, trying to analyze how the reflections work. In a month from now I'll probably look back at this painting and realize how wrong everything really is. :(

SO!!! A couple weeks ago one of my best buddies, Joey O'neil (check out her music. OR let her live at your parents house when you know they are going to be in the Carrebean on a swingers cruise. Or whichever. Both. I don't know, JUST GET ON IT!), asked me to help her and her class mates in the Independant Music Production program at Seneca with creating art for their final project; a professionally produced album to which each student must contribute a song. The theme of the album art had something to do with comic books or superheroes (i'm not really sure as I haven't seen the final product). Anyways I did caricatures of some of the kids and here are the Images:

Alright, so I bought a Moleskine which I neither regret nor am happy about.

Things I Didn't like

The paper has almost no tooth so marker or any kind of wet ink smudges really easily and when the ink from my brush pens dry on it I can still see little droplets in the ink.

Over Priced.

My friend, Michael Shafir, actually did a research report on the history of the Moleskine for school, and guess what people!!! That little history pamphlet tucked on the inside cover of the book is bullshit. You know the one about all the famous people - Van Gough, Hemmingway - swearing by their Moleskin. The company "Moleskine" has only been around a little over a decade, not two-hundred years. The only truth about the Moleskine myth is that in the 19th and 20th century notebooks with similar qualities to the modern day Moleskines were in popular demand. Go read wikipedia about it.

Things I Did Like

I had cute - but pretentious - architecture girls approach me to talk about my Moleskine. I guess throwing away 25 dollars on 63 pages makes me a baller.

Col erase pencil looks FUCKING SICK on Moleskine. It is almost a completely different medium.

It fits in the pocket of my fav shorts.
